MICHAEL CLEVELAND & FLAMEKEEPER
Brings dynamic traditional bluegrass to the stage with his award-winning band, Flamekeeper, in a show that will mesmerize the audience! Mike and his talented band present a program of tight vocal trios and duos, blistering instrumentals, and fiddle-and-banjo duets that echo the first-generation stars of bluegrass. The show is rounded out with Mike's dry wit and the band's sense of fun. Considered one of the premier bluegrass fiddlers of his generation, Mike picked up a fiddle at age four, and his talent was recognized early. In 1993 he was chosen to be part of the Bluegrass Youth All Stars. Later that year Mike made his Grand Ole Opry debut as a guest of Alison Krauss. His list of guest appearances over the years is a who's who of bluegrass legends.

Since 2006, Mike has swept the Fiddle Performer of the Year award, and now has 10. Mike's first solo project as a Rounder recording artist, Flame Keeper, was re-leased in February 2002 and was chosen the IBMA's Instrumental Album of the Year. In 2004, Mike shared the Instrumental Album of the Year award with Tom Adams for Tom Adams and Michael Cleveland Live at the Ragged Edge, an album of fiddle and banjo duets. That was followed in 2006 by a second solo project, the award-winning Let 'Er Go, Boys! and in 2008 by the first Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper CD, Leavin' Town. The band’s second CD, Fired Up, was released in March 2011 and reached #1 on Sirius XM Bluegrass Junction’s Most Played Albums chart. Michael and his band perform Saturday night May 26 at 9:15pm.

TRONGONE BAND (Pron: Tron- GO-NEE) TRONGONE BAND
Formed by brothers Andrew and Johnny Trongone with father John Sr on bass, The Trongone Band has grown from a family affair to a full on touring machine with the addition of keyboardist Ben “Wolfe” White and bassist Chip Hale. “the quartet has come together to create an old-school and all-in-the-family sound reminiscent of The Allman Brothers while still keeping it fresh with their cutting edge original compositions that also infuse funk and blues into the mix.”

TRONGONE BAND
Keeping with the homegrown vibe, the band nestled into the woods outside of RVA, tapping into Montrose Recording’s Flickinger console, one of only seven remaining in the world. Known as the console that revolutionized the recording industry in the 60s & 70s, the Flickinger provided the warm sounds that turned into “Keys to the House” as “imagery of boxcar drifters, rolling hills and dirt roads that are easy to close your eyes and get lost in”.

This four-piece ensemble may not all be related, but with a chemistry so emphatically discernible, it's fair to call them brothers.

TENNESSEE MAFIA JUG BAND TENNESSEE MAFIA JUG BAND
TENNESSEE MAFIA JUG BAND
Performing their special brand of country and folk music, the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band took home the Blue Blaze Award at the 46th annual Smithville Fiddler's Jamboree and Crafts Festival. Members: Mike Armistead, Mike Webb, Ernie Sykes, Leroy Troy and Dan Kelly Albums: Poor Leroy's Almanack, Lester's Lofin Lounge

From the pastoral hills, hollers, shopping malls and interstate highways of Goodlettsville Tennessee, comes the most entertaining "blast from the past".

They’re the Tennessee Mafia Jug Band -- five guys and a scrubboard, with roots like wisdom teeth. The Band has shamelessly stolen a feature of the old Roy Acuff Show -- a bit known as "Pap & the Jug Band". There’s only so many graveyard numbers or raunchy love songs that even the most rabid country audience can sit through without some kind of relief. This frolicking fivesome brightens up the stage with rib-tickling old time tunes. Even better, they have an utter lack of self-consciousness (and some might say any sense of decorum). The Tennessee Mafia Jug Band not only know the music, they wear the costumes, tell corny jokes and even do slapstick gags that throw audiences into hysterics. Grown women have lost control of internal organs when the Jug Band entertains ... tears a’ runnin’ down both legs! 8:15pm Friday May 24.

LAUREN MORROW OF WHISKEY GENTRY LAUREN MORROW OF WHISKEY GENTRY
Laura Morrow fronted the Georgia-based band The Whiskey Gentry for some eight years, enjoying a successful run, releasing a few well-received records, including 2017’s Dead Ringer, and did some serious touring landing some big opening gigs at important festivals.

It was in the summer of 2017 when Laura and her husband and fellow Whiskey Gentry member Jason that they decided to leave Atlanta for Nashville, and take the big plunge once and for all. Seeing the musical camaraderie swelling within Nashville’s independent community made them want to be a part of it.

LAUREN MORROW OF WHISKEY GENTRY
This self-titled EP is the opening salvo from that transformation, and includes some notable Nashville musicians such as pedal steel player Whit Wright, and drummer Jerry Pentacost. these four songs are really good. Starting with “Viki Lynn” about Lauren Morrow’s mother. This is the type of deeply personal, yet widely appealing song you write when you put your fate on the edge of a pen, and take the net away from below the trapeze. Twangy, upbeat, and true, it’s an easy song to fall for. This is followed by a heartbreaker called “I Don’t Think About You At All.” “Mess Around” has more of an Americana approach with its watery guitar, and you don’t even mind the old school moog-y solo once it gets there. “Barbara Jean” ends the EP in more of a storyteller mode, and gives the audience something to unravel. Lauren performs at 7:30pm Sunday May 26.

JOE HOTT AND THE SHORT MOUNTAIN BOYS JOE HOTT AND THE SHORT MOUNTAIN BOYS
Old time mountain music from West Virginia. Joe Hot and The Short Mountain Boys are a new generation of Bluegrass musicians. They like to call their style "Soulful Mountain Music"

Striding confidentially onto the Nashville music scene, JOE HOTT is poised to become a “must see/must hear” new face and voice for a world of new listeners ready to discover that “all things old become new—and hip again.”

JOE HOTT AND THE SHORT MOUNTAIN BOYS
A unique blend of retro-bluegrass, traditional; country and gospel music and, original Appalachian mountain music provide the mixture that makes Joe Hott a rare treasure. His tall (6’4”) lanky frame and handsome boyish resemblance to Hank Williams, Sr. were God’s gift to Joe Hott. His music is Joe’s gift to God.

Joe’s youthful fascination with the blended soundtracks of Dr. Ralph Stanley, Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, and Hank Williams, Sr. spun the fabric of his creative inspiration as well as the formation of his own vocal and musical interpretations and has formed the base for his songwriting.

In 2012, Joe formed “Short Mountain Brothers” trio—the name of the group a tribute to the Short Mountain that sits just behind Joe’s boyhood home. With the addition of a fourth musician, Joe now tours with his renamed “Short Mountain Band” featuring guitar, banjo, bass and mandolin. His album “Home Far Away” leaves little doubt that all things old are new again—and Joe Hott is here to prove it. Joe is releasing his newest CD “The Last Thing on My Mind”. Joe Hott performs 5pm Friday May 24.

JASON EADY JASON EADY
In each track of his 6 albums, Eady reveals a sharp sense of songcraft he’s honed since childhood. “Even back in my early days of getting into music, I always cared more about the writers than the singers,” says Eady, who grew up in Jackson. At age 14—the same year he started writing his own material—Eady began performing in local bars and showing his natural grasp of everything from soul and R&B to blues and country. After some time in the Air Force, he moved to Fort Worth, Texas and started playing open mic nights, where he quickly built up a devoted following. By 2005, Eady had made his debut with the independently released From Underneath The Old.

JASON EADY
On his last two albums, Jason Eady earned major acclaim for his ahead-of-the- curve take on classic country, a bold departure from his earlier excursions into blues-infused Americana. Now the Mississippi-bred singer/guitarist merges his distinct sensibilities into a stripped-down, roots- oriented sound that starkly showcases the gritty elegance of his songwriting.

The follow-up to 2014’s critically praised Daylight/Dark—an album that “belongs on a shelf next to Dwight Yoakam’s Buenos Noches from a Lonely Room, Joe Ely’s Letter to Laredo, and yes, even Willie Nelson’s Phases and Stages,” according to AllMusic “At the beginning I told everyone I wanted to make a record where, if the power went out, we could still sit down and play all the songs the exact same way,” says Eady, who points out that steel guitar is the only electric instrument featured on the album.

Despite its subtle approach, the album radiates a warm vitality that’s got much to do with Eady’s gift for nuanced yet unaffected slice-of-life storytelling.

When you get started making music, your ideas are grandiose and more about the big picture. But the longer I’ve done this, the more I’ve realized that the real joy comes from the process rather than the end goal,” he says. “Now it’s about getting better and finding more of myself with every album. So instead of writing what I think people want to hear, I’m writing what I want to write and trusting that—as long as it’s coming from an honest place—it’ll hopefully mean something to the people listening too.”

NATCHEZ TRACERS
‘Corinthian Queen’ pulls equally from the Muscle Shoals, New Orleans and Southern Rock sounds, with subtle nods to The Band. ‘Ferguson Blues’ and ‘Zeroes & Ones Galore’ are the AOR-infused, social commentary compositions that explore topical events and emotions. These longer explorations take cues from epic 70’s rock and showcase the band’s more blues-based, psychedelic rock and funk influences. With these six songs culled from the bands ever expanding repertoire, this collection of tunes takes the listener on a journey through both the heart and mind, while providing an infectious foot-tapping experience.
